in front of positively 4th street, a little old lady created her designer wear for the giant plastic ducks... i had never seen the plastic ducks, only the cement ones. they gave me an idea. stayed tuned....

reconnecting with an old friend is one of the best things that can happen to a person.
30+ years had past & dawn & i finally reunited.
after many months of my beautiful daughter telling me to join facebook...you will be amazed at how many school pals you will be able to find.... i finally did.

IF I DON'T LOOK
the eyes looked at me, i could feel them.

i walked away, feeling the heat of the sadness.

"if i don't look back, it is not real," i thought.

i felt the heat burn into me,
like a magnifying glass on an ant. ...

"please," the voice asked, "just some change would help."

as i reached in to my pocket,
i wouldn't turn around...

i am a member of SWAP-BOT, and i joined a poet's group. the theme was 'homeless.'

lemon verbena! a great summery herb...

i love summer & i love herbs... here is a recipe for a tasty summer treat!

LEMON VERBENA ICE CUPS

1 1/2 cups sugar

5 cups water divided

1/3 cup lime juice

1/4 cup lemon juice

1 tablespoon minced fresh lemon verbena leaves

Limes & lemons, halved and pulp removed

Lime peel & additional lemon verbena leaves, optional

In a saucepan, combine sugar & 1 cup water; bring to a boil. Boil & stir until sugar is dissolved.

Remove from the heat; cool.

Add juices, lemon verbena & remaining water. Cover & refridgerate over night.

When ready to freeze, pour mixture into the cylinder of an ice cream freezer; freeze according to manufacture's directions.

Spoon into lime & lemon cups.

Garnish with lime peel & lemon verbena if desired.

YEILD: 12 servings.

the theme was music & there were so many lovely creations.

toad

when i found this little toad in my yard, i began to play with it.

he wasn't scared of me. he enjoyed being held and enjoyed the gentle petting on his back.

he never tried to hop away.

he stayed on my leg.

he walked on my belly.

he watched me watch him.

he never peed his toad pee on me.

he let me rub his toad belly.

...i thought, "i am spending way too much time with this toad..."

then i said outloud, "who cares?"

memorial day 2009

a beautiful day today. my daughter, my mom & dad & my husband.

good cook-out & lots of conversation.

let us too, always remember the vets who gave their lives so we may live ours. not just on memorial day, but everyday...

con.scious decision

i have made a con⋅scious decision. no more red meat. no more pork. no more chicken.

i am tired of feeling bloated.
the textures are sickening me
the smells are not pleasing any longer
the look of raw or cooked meat is disgusting me
my stomach doesn't tolerate them
thus, my mind is made up

compelled

i should be doing a million other things instead of creating a blog.
i am compelled, though, to write honestly about myself & my life, hopefully on a daily basis.
this should be a good lesson & good discipline for me.
